Chiropractic Care in Oklahoma Expanded
Oklahoma Medicaid will now cover adult chiropractic and physical therapy care in a non-hospital based setting beginning Jan 1, 2022. In an effort to reduce the number of opioid prescriptions for back pain, OHCA is allowing alternative treatments for pain management. For Chiropractic services, OHCA will cover CPT codes 98940, 98941, and 98942 for adults ages 21 years and older. These visits will be limited to a total of 12 visits per calendar year when provided for a diagnosis of spinal pain and will require a prior authorization (PA). Chiropractors will also be allowed to bill for an evaluation or re-evaluation using CPT codes 99202, 99203, 99212, or 99213, for a combined total of two evaluation and management (E&M) visits per calendar year - these two E&M visits will not require a PA.
